Park scheme moves ahead

A WASTELAND is set to be transformed into an £80,000 play park, in plans developed by a community group.

Residents in Dunbar, who formed the East Beach Regeneration Group, have won funding from waste company Viridor and Asda for the project.

They hope to transform the land near East Beach if they get the go-ahead from the council.

The land has been empty since Johnny's Amusements was bulldozed in 2007. Plans include a park with play equipment and outdoor tables and chairs.

The group said: "This area has great potential as an attraction for Dunbar, as well as the harbour and Belhaven Bay, thus attracting visitors from outside the town."
