Park party 999 crash man dies

A TAXI driver whose car collided with a police vehicle on its way to deal with an unauthorised park party has died in hospital.

The 65-year-old was seriously injured on 29 April - when official street parties were being held to celebrate the royal wedding - as police rushed to Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow's west end to control an unplanned event involving about 6,000 people.

His Fiat Doblo collided with the Ford Transit police van at around 5:40pm.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to the city's Western Infirmary, where he was placed in intensive care. But he died in hospital yesterday, almost two weeks after the crash.
