Park cordoned off as police probe rape

POLICE are continuing a forensic search of a section of the Meadows after a sex attack in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Officers cordoned off an area of Meadow Park after a woman reported being sexually assaulted.

Forensic officers spent yesterday scouring an area of grass at the corner of Melville Drive and Marchmont Road for evidence.

Police are appealing to anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the attack to come forward. A spokesman said: “Anyone who saw anything suspicious in or around the Meadows should contact police immediately.”
