Parents 'devastated' over special needs school move

PARENTS have slammed plans to move children from a special needs school in West Lothian to mainstream education.

The council plans to move older pupils from Cedarbank School, which has around 40 children with special needs, to Armadale Academy.

Marie Bell, whose son Darren attends Cedarbank, said: "He has come on a lot since he went to Cedarbank and I'm sick of them trying to move him around.

"I've spoken to other parents and they're also devastated." Two public meetings are now set to be held to discuss the plans.

A West Lothian Council spokesman defended the move.

"The aim of this proposal to relocate senior pupils who attend Cedarbank School, is to better prepare them for transition to college and to the world of work."

The public meetings will be staged at 7pm on September 29 at Cedarbank School and October 6 at Armadale Academy.
