ParentLine hours boost

THE ParentLine Scotland helpline has started taking weekend calls from anyone with concerns about caring for a child.

On Saturday the service celebrated its new weekend service with a special launch event featuring Jim Eadie, the new MSP for Edinburgh Southern. He presented certificates to ParentLine Scotland volunteers, who handle inquiries from callers, to mark the start of national Volunteers' Week.

The service is appealing for volunteer call-takers to join the team.

Jill Cook, helpline manager, said: "We are delighted that we can now offer advice and support to callers at the weekend. We recently received funding that allows us to expand our opening hours. We now really need volunteer call-takers to help us provide this service."
