Palace honour as Margaret gets MBE from Prince Charles

THE woman responsible for forging links between local schools and West Lothian College has been to Buckingham Palace to collect her MBE from Prince Charles.

College and schools development officer Margaret Forisky was recognised for services to young people in further education in the Queen's Birthday Honours last year.

She travelled to London with her mother, also Margaret, husband Gerry McCafferty and daughter Cara.

Ms Forisky, 46, from Bathgate, coordinates part-time schools provision in the college, giving pupils the opportunity to study subjects in the college while still in school.

She works with pupils from all 11 West Lothian secondary schools and this year has supported more than 400 pupils in college courses.

She said: "Being awarded an MBE was such a surprise.

"Prince Charles was welcoming and spoke to me of the wintry weather in Scotland."
