Pair killed in Beauly crash are named by police

Two women killed in a car crash in the Highlands which also left a boy in a critical condition in hospital, have been named by police.

Emma Cameron, 38, and Rebecca McIntyre, 19, died at the scene of the one-car collision on the A862 near Beauly just before 12.30am yesterday, while a boy and a man also travelling in the car were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness with serious injuries.

The boy has since been moved to the Southern General hospital in Glasgow by helicopter, the ambulance service said.

Both women are from Muir of Ord, Easter Ross, and family have been informed, police said.

Part of the Inverness to Beauly Road was closed for several hours while investigations were carried out. It reopened shortly after 9am.

Officers said inquiries into the cause of the collision are continuing and they asked anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 101.
