Over £50k in jewellery stolen from Dumfries house

Jewellery worth more than £50,000 - including diamonds, emeralds and pearls - has been stolen from a house.

The break-in happened in Pleasance Avenue, Dumfries, between Saturday June 20 and Friday July 10.

Police Scotland said the jewellery taken includes a tanzanite and diamond ring, bracelet and necklace; an emerald and diamond ring, bracelet and necklace; pearl necklaces and a number of diamond rings and earrings.

An undisclosed sum of cash was also stolen in the “high value” raid.

Appealing for information, Detective Constable Lorna Douglas said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in Pleasance Avenue, in the area around Troqueer Primary School over this period.”
