Outlook's sunny for Cat as weather girl

TV presenter Cat Cubie is to return home to Edinburgh as part of a new weather team for BBC Scotland.

The 29-year-old, who moved to London two years ago to front the Euromillions lottery draw, is one of three new members filling in for a trio of presenters due to go off on maternity leave.

The former George Watson's pupil from Morningside - whose father Sir Andrew Cubie chaired Scotland's independent inquiry into tuition fees in 2000 - said she was thrilled.

She said: "One of my earliest memories is falling asleep as my dad listened to the shipping forecast. I never for one moment dreamed that when I grew up I would be involved in presenting the weather myself."

She will join 28-year-old Christopher Blanchett and Stavros Danaos, 33, in the new role.
