Out in force to boost skills

OFFICERS from Lothian and Borders Police took part in more than 15,000 training courses in the last year, new figures have shown.

The 3078 officers from the force included in a personnel headcount attended a total of 15,661 courses between last April and March.

Officers took part in 4167 mandatory courses, such as those covering police safety and diversity training, while 11,494 took part in voluntary skills programmes.

Among 1402 police staff, they attended 2649 training courses as part of their work.
