Orlando nightclub shooting: Multple injuries as '˜hostages taken'

POLICE in Orlando say they are responding to a shooting at an LGBT nightclub in southern Florida.

A post on the department’s official Twitter account early Sunday morning says “multiple injuries” have been reported following the incident at the Pulse Orlando nightclub near Orange and Kaley avenue. The department also advises people to “stay away from area.”

Multiple emergency vehicles have reportedly responded.

Pulse Orlando’s earlier posted a note to its own Facebook page that said: “Everyone get out of pulse and keep running.”

Local reports claim the gunman has barricaded himself in the venue and taken several people hostage.

A witness to the shooting said there were more than 100 people in the club at the time of the attack.
