Zionist push

I NOTE that the US secretary of state, John Kerry, takes issue with the comment from Turkey’s prime minister that Zionism is a crime against humanity (International, 2 March).

Prime minister Tayyip Erdogan probably put it too strongly, but my understanding of Zionism is that it lays claim to territory that belongs to others – this in law would be regarded as a desire, or even intention, to steal rather than crime against humanity.

What can be said with reasonable accuracy is that territory has already been purloined by the Israelis in the name of Zionism, the West Bank being the example, and that it seems that some crimes against humanity have
occurred there.
