Yes, not SNP

May I respectfully suggest to Douglas Turner (Letters, 30 January) that it was not the SNP who pulled 44.5 per cent of the referendum vote, but the Yes voters of all political persuasions, and a fair number with no political allegiance to any party.

I’m sure it’s a given that all SNP members voted Yes, but not all Yes voters are, or were, SNP members. As for the 54.5 per cent who voted No, a substantial number of them belong to the silent majority who were more concerned about the financial and political uncertainties than about political posturing.
