Word perfect

Reading the current correspondence about the correct use of the English language makes one realise that many of us have our foibles in this regard.

My particular bugbear (inter alia) is the unnecessary use of parenthesis and the pompous use of Latin that some writers to the Letters page use to make their contributions appear somehow more erudite.
