Wise decision

Sir Chris Hoy’s retirement from track cycling will be disappointing for the organisers of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and his legions of fans. However, if his body is telling him to give up, it will be a wise decision.

He has been a great ambassador for Britain in a sport which knows no boundaries. While he has still much to offer sport in other capacities, his retiring will ensure that
he is not used as a political pawn in the run-up to the
independence vote.
