Wind of change

Your report (Monday, 6 February) that 100 Tory politicians have raised concerns about the vast subsidies supporting the wind farm industry is the first sign that not all politicians are ignoring the crisis facing our people and countryside.

What I find remarkable is that Labour politicians who supposedly represent the poorer sections of society say nothing about the rise in fuel poverty which will be caused by the transfer of wealth from electricity users to rich land- owners and foreign energy companies.

The same goes for SNP politicians who have been cowed by their leadership into not uttering a word of protest as we edge closer to having an unstable and unreliable electricity supply system while in the meantime our beautiful landscape is slowly being destroyed by thousands of costly and inefficient wind turbines.
