Where is the aid?

Six months after the earthquake in Haiti, there has been an appalling lack of progress in rebuilding the country (your report 12 July).

BBC News reported that only 2 per cent of the rubble had been cleared. After the catastrophe, you reported that the US was sending 3,500 soldiers and 300 medical personnel to help with disaster relief and security, while President Obama assured the Haitian people: "You will not be forsaken. You will not be forgotten. In this, your hour of greatest need, America stands with you. The world stands with you."

Well?Where are the US army engineers? Where is the earth-moving equipment?

Where are the field hospitals? Is President Obama as guilty as many of his predecessors of gesture rhetoric?
