Wha's like us

Robert M Dunn (Letters, 13 March) submits a Scots phrase ("rax me a spaul o that bubbly jock") as evidence that Scots is significantly different to the English language. What, then, does he make of "on Ilkla moor baht 'at"? Scots, like Yorkshire, is a dialect of English, and it's one of the many components that give the language its depth and richness and expressive power.
