Welling anger

It IS a pity that Lawrence Fraser (Letters, 18 August) chooses to describe First Minister Alex Salmond’s reaction to the Shell oil spill as “predictable hypocrisy” and “priggish”.

Mr Salmond’s comments about the English riots were accurate technically as, technically, the oil is in “UK” waters – of course, only since a Labour government in the late 1970s redrew the maritime boundaries.
