Weak argument
George Shering (Letters,
28 June) attempts to put forward a quasi-scientific case based on “evidence” in defence of the unfounded assertions of the Lawyers for Yes group.
His argument would appear to go along the following lines: “Some small Northern European countries come out near the top in most performance tables. Scotland is a small Northern European country; therefore an independent Scotland would be a fairer and more prosperous country.”
I do not think that such a case would produce much conviction either in a scientific forum or a court of law.
