Water risk

It was with alarm that I read that the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art had had to close its doors temporarily because of a leak triggered by heavy rain (your report, 7 May).

The staff must have had their hearts in their mouths when they discovered the potential risks to all those extraordinary works of art.

I’d be curious to know how the plumbing below Charles Jencks’ Landform works. I’m sure the gallery’s maintenance staff are on top of this, but presumably there’s a degree of risk of leakage there as well.
