Wasting time

The head of Scotland’s civil service has cleared First Minister Alex Salmond of breaking parliamentary rules as alleged by Barney Crockett, the Labour leader of Aberdeen City Council (your report, 9 August).

However, Mr Crockett has now written to ask the head of the UK civil service to investigate. Rather than wasting time, effort and taxpayers’ money trying to score political brownie points against Mr Salmond, he should be addressing the concerns of the ratepayers of Aberdeen.

The Labour-led council could start by cleaning and improving Union Street before Aberdeen gets the sobriquet Slumtown on Don.
