Warming is real

Robert Dow tells us he has “no scientific training” (Letters, 27 October).

It shows. His statement that water vapour is the main greenhouse gas completely ignores the amplifying effect CO² has on it.

Such half truths and ignorance of simple concepts like feedback loops typify the “mass of evidence” Mr Dow imagines lined up against anthropogenic climate change.

It takes only a little investigation of the deniers’ claims to see that Mr Dow’s accusations of “inaccuracies, selectivity, distortion and outright lies” are the pot calling the kettle black.

Mr Dow’s letter comes only a week after a Berkeley team released data confirming that warming is real, and refuting some of the common deniers’ criticisms. Yet more evidence for climate change.

Expect misrepresentation and nit-picking to follow.
