Walking tall

I read with much interest your report (13 March) on the proposed new long-distance walkway across Central Scotland, "From Coast to Coast – get set to walk this Way" and, despite your withering (albeit tongue-in-cheek) comments in the Opinion section, I believe this has much merit and deserves to be given serious consideration.

With the Scottish Government, local authorities, the NHS and many others promoting the benefits of walking and cycling, and not to mention the acknowledged historical aspects of the proposed route, this has the potential to become a popular attraction not only to the indigenous population but also to the many tourists who visit the region annually.

One point I will ask you to allow me to make is the baffling omission from your article of what is arguably the most iconic landmark along the route and that is the Forth Bridge, widely acknowledged to be one of the most amazing engineering feats of the Victorian age and which is viewed and photographed by millions of visitors each year.
