Victims of thugs

I WAS rather surprised and concerned to find myself gracing the pages of last week's edition of Scotland on Sunday. This was especially surprising as the report implied that myself and my family had been the victims of institutional bullying, in the context of the union Unite's campaign concerning the bullying of ministers of religion by their colleagues and congregations.

I have indeed been the victim of harassment, but not by my colleagues in the North of Scotland Methodist Mission Circuit and certainly not by my fellow churchgoers. My family have been targeted by local thugs, who assaulted me and threatened my family. Throughout this difficult time I have drawn great strength from the support of my Methodist friends and colleagues. We are so grateful for their concern and will miss this wonderful community as we head to pastures new.

Revd Andrew Renshaw, Methodist Minister, Peterhead
