Vested interests in lobby system

A DEBT of gratitude is owed to GM Lindsay (Letters, 13 January) for exposing the vested interest group infiltration of the Scottish Parliament’s lobbying system. The entire history of the global warming scam is peppered with factual inaccuracy, distortion and outright lying. The influence wielded by Scottish Renewables, which Mr Lindsay expertly exposes, is typically dishonest.

But the deceit is widespread: consider the BBC’s role. Many must have noticed that our national broadcaster – required by charter to be impartial – reports global warming as fact, but how many are aware that this is official policy since 2006?

That very notion is scandalous enough, but the Corporation blatantly lied in its stated justification for it, claiming to have based it on the views of “best scientific experts”. They then refused to name these, spending tens of thousands to fight a Freedom of Information request.

It is now known that only three were scientists, none of great reputation, the rest being mainly journalists and renewables activists.

The inescapable conclusion must be that influence, financial or otherwise, from government or other backers, was also the trigger for this disgraceful departure from authorisation.
