Value cyclists

The Royal Society for Public Health has suggested that the likes of barbers and bookies could be trained to advice people on matters of good health.

By the same token, the police alone can’t be expected to keep our roads safe. If there are 15 million public sector workers who could be trained to offer health advice, they could also offer “safe and friendly driving” advice, not least on how to be a cycling-friendly driver.

What better way to stay fit and healthy than to cycle to work?

The message should be: “We love and value cyclists. Pass them wide and slow.” We can do it for horses. Why not for cyclists?
