Unpalatable hue

Once again the Festival is upon us and, if perpetual roadworks were not enough, we now have, next door to the East End Funfair, the elegant columns of the Royal Scottish Academy wrapped in some kind of sackcloth, gaudily painted in all the colours of the rainbow.

Are the people who imposed this tasteless outrage upon us the same ones whose artistic sensitivities deny Jack Vettriano a place on their gallery walls? If so, our Jack is better out of it.
