Unfathomable
YOUR correspondent Crawford Grier (Letters, 8 June) is right to describe scallop dredging as the most destructive of any commercial fishing methods and I cannot fathom why it hasn’t been banned as it simply cannot be sustained.
As a Scuba diver I have seen the resultant destruction of the seabed after scalloping with the seabed, covered by smashed juvenile crustaceans and left looking like a lunar landscape.
