Unexplained rises
The usual justification for such increases is claimed to be a rise in gas prices. However, the company has no gas-fired generation capacity north of the Border.
Its main generation facility is Longannet’s large coal-fired station. I note in the Business section of the same issue a report of the difficulties faced by ATH Resources due to “a slump in coal prices”.

Hide AdOr could the “increased cost of transporting electricity to consumers” have something to do with the company’s involvement with dispersed wind power stations?
I feel that Scottish electricity customers are entitled to an explanation.
