Unelected names

Like many people today, Gary Otton of the Scottish Secular Society uses the word “unelected” as a term of abuse.

In his short letter to you (13 May), the word appears in that sense three times.

I am not ashamed to say that I have been unelected all my life. And who, may one ask, elected Mr Otton?
