Turkey dilemma

THE Prime Minister, David Cameron, is reported (28 July) to be stating in Ankara his frustration at the slow progress of negotiations in establishing Turkey's membership of the European Union.

It is right, of course, that we, as a nation, should encourage trade links to our mutual advantage.

In no way, in my opinion, can this be a justification for a Muslim country, with a tiny foothold the size of Sicily in Europe, becoming a member of a European union.
