Trump fall-out

In the context of the widely welcomed departure of Mr Donald Trump and his ambitions for Scotland, we should not forget the role played by Alex Salmond in keeping him here.

The 2008 Scottish Parliament report found that “The [local government and communities] committee believes that, far from taking a precautionary approach, the First Minister was cavalier in his actions and displayed, at best, exceptionally poor judgment and a worrying lack of awareness about the consequence of his actions.”

In the context of important open questions about the currency, constitution and continuing renewable energy subsidies in a future – potentially independent – Scotland, can we be sure that Mr Salmond is heeding the implicit advice in the committee’s report?
