Trident point

With the UK Defence budget now at its lowest for a century at just 2 per cent, might I urge the SNP to stop trying to pretend that not renewing Trident will mean more money for other services such as schools and hospitals.

With the newly found commitment to NATO membership, an independent Scotland would have to spend 2 per cent on defence – the minimum allowed by NATO, therefore the SNP would have to spend the Trident money on other weapons and military hardware.  Stop treating voters like fools.
