Trams inquiry

One only hopes this trams inquiry under Lord Hardie will not go on for as long as the incompletion of the original track and plans for an Edinburgh tram
system, which did little to enhance the City’s international reputation.

Why the inquiry was not put on a statutory basis at the start raises questions in itself.

Those responsible for the Edinburgh trams fiasco, which closed some businesses and leaves ratepayers with considerable debt interest payments for years to come, were hardly going to put their heads – never mind reputations – above the parapet.
