Trams dispute

I feel your article "Stop the squabbling and just get on with the job" (Leader, 16 March) is misplaced.

We have a tram project that is totally out of control, Tie has no idea of the completion date or the final outturn cost.

Bilfinger Berger has won a substantial contractual point in the adjudication process invoked by Tie and clearly, due to these wins, has a contractual right to expect payment for changes in design and the lateness of the utilities delaying the track laying.

This dispute has the power to bring the City of Edinburgh – a city that is not in a position to borrow its way out of the problem – to its knees.
