Tram guidelines

Seeing as pedestrians in Edinburgh will need to share the city centre with the trams (at some point), I wonder if it will be all right for people to use the tram lines.

There do not seem to be any warnings for pedestrians, the lines are not fenced off in any way and they seem entirely open to all.

For example, can the RBS staff at Gogar take a walk along the tracks to Krispy Kreme for their lunch?

Maybe I could race a tram from the tram depot to the West End, running. Can I cross underneath the A8 to get to the Maybury Casino from the Gyle shopping centre?

I’ve tried calling the customer services and they seem quite unsure. In fact, they are unwilling to say whether it’s wrong or right, and seem a little confused about the whole thing.
