Train strike

With two separate 48-hour strikes taking place in June I have been left wondering whether RMT members have got ideas above their station.

This strike, designed to cause maximum disruption with workers stopping at 5pm, is completely unacceptable and the strikers will have very little if no support from the general public.

They have been offered a 1 per cent pay rise, which is completely fair given the fact that inflattion is currently lower than that.

What were union bosses expecting? On a personal note I am booked to travel right in the middle of the second strike and already paid for hotel accommodation and theatre tickets in England. Unless the strike is called off I will have to find alternative travel arrangements at a further cost to me.

For all her faults, Margaret Thatcher had the right approach to unions holding this country to ransom.
