Track records

While congratulating your paper on its interesting series about Scottish sporting heroes of the past 60 years, I note that the article on Liz McColgan (4 February) stated that she won Scotland's only track medal in the 1986 Commonwealth Games.

In fact, before Liz had even stepped on to the track, local girl Yvonne Murray (from Musselburgh) had already won bronze in a hard-fought personal best time for 3,000m, bringing to an end Scotland's run of failures.

Let us not also forget the exploits of Tom McKean in the 800m.
