Tory partners

Jim Carson (Letters, 17 June) seems to think that Labour was punished at the recent election for working with the Tories in the referendum campaign.

Well, of course they did: both are unionist parties who sought to save Scotland from disaster and in this they succeeded since a majority of the electorate agreed with them.

It’s much more likely that Labour was rejected because of its poor record in opposition in Scotland in an election which had to do with the governance of the country and, as Ms Sturgeon repeatedly stressed, nothing to do with the independence question.

I notice from your front page (same day) that all 56 SNP MPs voted with the rebel Tories in Tuesday’s EU referendum debate. Working with Tories?

Should they be punished?
