Top Tory hope

As recent candidates for the Scottish Conservatives, we write to endorse Ruth Davidson MSP to be the next leader of the party.

At her launch last week, Ruth showed that she has both the charisma and vision to lead us back to a position of strength in Scottish politics.

It is clear to us that we need real change and fresh thinking to renew the Scottish Conservative party. We believe she is best placed to lead that renewal.

She offers the party dynamic, modern leadership and represents a new generation of Conservatives, able to speak with conviction: about aspiration and opportunity; about her proud unionism; and about the benefits of small government and lower taxes. Above all, she represents the future, not the past.

Over the past few years, we have campaigned the length and breadth of Scotland, speaking to voters across the land. With that experience in mind, we believe that Ruth Davidson has all the qualities needed to reach out to people wherever they live and whatever they do. Of all the candidates, she is the best hope for the party and for Scotland.
