Token women

How transparent is this latest gimmick of Alex Salmond’s? He knows that the vast majority of women voters are against separation so in order to appeal to them he promotes two junior female ministers to the Scottish Cabinet.

This is not only an insult to the two ladies concerned, who must know they are being patronised in the most tokenistic fashion, but also to the women voters who Salmond clearly believes will be taken in by this obvious and cynical strategy.

Women from time immemorial have been used to rejecting the blandishments and grand promises of seducers who, once they have had their way, don’t deliver or totally abandon the erstwhile target of their desires.
