Title deeds

Harry Watson (Letters, 30 October) asks if the Kirk would like to revert to its “full medieval hierarchy of bishops and archbishops, deans and archdeacons”.

As a retired parish minister I think such titles are wholly ­pretentious but the General ­Assembly’s “very” reverend ­ex-moderators wearing purple and pretending to be bishops would probably disagree.
