Ticket price

IN its quest to be City of Culture 2017, Aberdeen isn’t being helped by its over-zealous officials. I hear that recent gig guest performers in the Granite City had their on-tour performance buses decorated with parking tickets even though they were where they should have been in their allocated spaces at the city’s Music Hall venue.

Within weeks of one another, Scottish artistes, Amy Macdonald, then Simple Minds, had their buses “stamped” with the penalty tickets. Macdonald told her sell-out audience exactly what she thought about this kind of sour official reception in her clear vocal way.

Such official over-zealousness surely won’t help Aberdeen in its culture quest.

Rival bidder, Dundee, could be rubbing its hands over this kind of clumsy effort at hospitality by its North-east neighbour.
