Tell it straight

Picking up Lindsay Walls’ pertinent comments (Letters, 2 July) about broadcasters just giving us the weather rather than using silly expressions like “spits and spots”, could The Scotsman just give us the news?

We don’t need your staff dreaming up catchy headlines with puns; better they proof-read their articles.

This would help avoid “Prince” instead of “Princess” in the story (2 July) about the commemorative coin to mark the royal christening and also on 2 July the headline with the error “MSPs” when the article is exclusively about “MPs”.
