Taxing response

I read that Bill Jamieson paid a colossal cheque to HMRC last month (Perspective, 23 February).

I refer him to what my father-in-law used to say to people who grumbled to him about how much tax they had to pay: “I just wish I was paying as much as you.” That shut them up.
