‘Tax’ put to bed?

There are two things to notice about the “bedroom tax”. Firstly, many of the rooms targeted don’t contain beds. Secondly, it is not a tax.

A tax is when we earn money and the government takes some of it (or when they put a levy on things we buy).

The under-occupancy penalty results in lower housing benefits for those living in taxpayer-funded homes bigger than they are thought to need.

Any chance we could now have a moratorium on the misleading term, “bedroom tax”?
