Tax dodge

YOUR leader (30 March) puts increasing the top tax rate to 50p first on his list of “specific policies the SNP intends to pursue”.

But Scott Macnab in his report only says “the Nationalists would back Labour’s proposal for a 50p top rate”. A big difference. The SNP has lots of longer standing more important policies to pursue than the 50p tax rate.

Is The Scotsman trying to frighten all its readers earning over £150,000 out of voting for the SNP? If they vote Labour to get Labour they will even more surely get the 50p rate. If they vote Conservative or Lib Dem and so deprive the SNP of a seat they will only reduce the SNP’s ability to moderate Labour policies.
