I read that the Edinburgh Tattoo "has won official approval to take a Royal title" (your report, 4 January). I am fairly certain that such an honour would be granted only by way of a Royal warrant superscribed by the Queen.

It is also unfortunate that by way of illustration you selected a representation of the Royal Arms as used in England rather than the Royal Arms as used in Scotland.
