Tactical vote

Dr Charles Wardrop (Letters, 25 September) asks for answers to a hypothetical question in the event of an independent Scotland. He asks: “What about the £100 billion share of the UK’s debts, how can we ever pay this off?”

Well, the one thing that is certain is that if Scotland votes No, then, as part of the UK, Scots will still be forced to pay off this enormous sum through increased taxes or cuts imposed by Westminster.

The £1 trillion debt which the incompetent UK government has accumulated won’t go away in the event of a No vote. In fact, it is much more likely to continue to become even bigger year by year.

Better by far to vote Yes, cut our losses and cut our ties to this failed system.
